ABOUT THE BAND

La Fiesta Latin Jazz Quintet is led and directed by saxophonist and composer Gregg Gelb who began the group in 2010 and since then the group has been actively playing throughout the Triangle region of North Carolina in clubs and for festivals. La Fiesta’s first recording entitled “La Fiesta Latin Jazz Quintet” was released in September of 2017 and the CD Release Party was held at the Beyu Caffe. The five piece group includes Ramon Ortiz – a Latin Jazz percussionist who is a native of the Dominican Republic; Jim Crew, piano – he has decades of playing experience in rock, funk, jazz, salsa, experimental, and world music bands; Beverly Botsford – a cross-cultural percussionist who has performed all over the world with Nnenna Freelon and is constantly busy sharing her percussion skills in schools throughout the Southeast; Andy Kleindienst, bassist – Andy also is a fine an educator and trombonist and since 2007 Andy has been the co-director for Orquesta GarDel and in 2011 the band released the Triangle’s first album of original timba music entitled Lo Que Tu Querias; Gregg Gelb is a recipient of a Jazz Composers Award from the North Carolina Arts Council and four Regional Artist grants from the Fayetteville/Cumberland County Arts Council. In addition to leading La Fiesta Latin Jazz Band he also leads his Jazz Quartet, Swing Band, and the Second Line Stompers, as well as being founder and director of the Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Society, co-founder and player with the North Carolina Jazz Repertory Orchestra and director of the Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble.

Seating Policy

  • Seating is on a priority basis, with patrons who have purchased tickets in advance being given preference. Walk in patrons will be seated as soon as possible; we will make every effort to accommodate requests, however specific tables are not guaranteed.

  • Seating for the first show begins one hour before the first set. Seating for the second show begins 15 minutes before the second set.

  • We can hold reserved tables for up to 15 minutes after the reservation time. After 15 minutes, we will have to release the reserved table, unless we are notified by phone that you want to change your reservation time.

  • Please be aware that parties of more than 9 will be subject to a party food/beverage minimum of $15 per person for jazz events. This amount will be in addition to, rather than including, the ticket price for the evening, and all applicable taxes and gratuity.

  • If you want to sit with others who have purchased tickets separately please call the café as soon as possible with the names of those persons you wish to join so that we can try to hold space.

  • Depending on the show and how quickly tickets are sold for the event, we cannot guarantee combined seating if tickets are not originally purchased as a group.

  • Tickets are sold online, over the phone (919) 683-1058 or in person at the café.

  • ALL SALES ARE FINAL & NON REFUNDABLE, unless the venue cancels the performance due to natural disaster or other unforeseeable circumstance.

Tour Groups

  • There are no discounts on tickets no matter the group size

Dress Code

There is no official dress code, however the atmosphere is best suited for dress business casual
