2016 was a pretty heavy year. Many legends passed and we survived the election season. Although this year was pretty memorable we’d love to make new memories and usher in a new year with a great dance party. At 10pm we will move the tables, set up the buffet, pop champagne and let DC Go-Go Band, JoGo Project, take control.

ABOUT THE BAND

The JoGo Project is a Washington, DC-based band that fuses elements of Jazz, Go-Go, R&B, and other styles to create a unique new sound, while paying homage and respect to the Go-Go tradition. Formed by saxophonist Elijah Balbed, who played with the Godfather of Go-Go, Mr. Chuck Brown the last year of his life, Elijah decided he wanted to contribute to the cause of preserving and advancing this unique art form. Growing up in one of DC’s closest suburbs, Silver Spring, Elijah always knew about Go-Go music but playing with the Godfather gave him a new-found, deeper appreciation for the music and the culture. In the 2 years since its inception, The JoGo Project has performed at venues such as Strathmore, Kennedy Center, Anacostia Arts Center, Velvet Lounge, Bayou, Silvana (NYC), festivals such as the DC Jazz Festival, H Street Festival, Art All Night Festival, and the Funk Parade, and members of the group have participated in workshops and lectures about Go-Go music. Collaborations have included Go-Go Artists Frank “Scooby” Sirius, rising Jazz stars Christie Dashiell and Warren Wolf, tap dancer Joseph Webb, as well as rapper Javier Starks, to name a few. The group is currently working on recording an EP, so stay tuned for more about that!

Seating Policy

• Seating is on a priority basis, with patrons who have purchased tickets in advance being given preference. Walk in patrons will be seated as soon as possible; we will make every effort to accommodate requests, however specific tables are not guaranteed.

• Seating for the first show begins one hour before the first set. Seating for the second show begins 15 minutes before the second set.

• We can hold reserved tables for up to 15 minutes after the reservation time. After 15 minutes, we will have to release the reserved table, unless we are notified by phone that you want to change your reservation time.

• Please be aware that parties of more than 9 will be subject to a party food/beverage minimum of $15 per person for jazz events. This amount will be in addition to, rather than including, the ticket price for the evening, and all applicable taxes and gratuity.

• If you want to sit with others who have purchased tickets separately please call the café as soon as possible with the names of those persons you wish to join so that we can try to hold space.

• Depending on the show and how quickly tickets are sold for the event, we cannot guarantee combined seating if tickets are not originally purchased as a group.

Tickets

• Tickets are sold online, over the phone (919) 683-1058 or in person at the café.

• ALL SALES ARE FINAL & NON REFUNDABLE, unless the venue cancels the performance due to natural disaster or other unforeseeable circumstance.

Tour Groups

• There are no discounts on tickets no matter the group size

Dress Code

There is no official dress code, however the atmosphere is best suited for dress business casual
